Armenian Minister of Diaspora receives Lebanese Minister of Culture

Armenia’s Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received on Monday a delegation headed by Lebanese Minister of Culture Gaby Layoun.

Michelle de Shatarevyan, Advisor to the Lebanese Minister of Culture, and Sargis Giragosian, Armenian-Lebanese writer, translator and literary critic were among the delegation members.

Minister Hakobian made a high appraisal of Armenian-Lebanese friendly relations. The Armenians are grateful for the warm attitude the Lebanese people showed the survivors of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey.

Minister Gaby Layoun pointed out the Armenian community’s important role in Lebanon’s political economic, cultural life, as well as in other areas.

The sides discussed the problems of the Armenian community in Lebanon, as well as the possibility of organizing Days of the Armenian Community in Lebanon.

Minister Hakobyan presented Minister Gaby Layoun with the illustrated volume entitled “Monuments to pain, memory and struggle.” The volume contains information on and pictures of Armenian Genocide victims. The volume also contains the pictures of seven monuments to the Armenian Genocide victims in Lebanon’s territory.
