Armenians love visiting museums in groups

Visiting or not visiting museums has nothing to do with either social-economic situation, nor working hours, deputy head of Cultural Values and People’s Arts Department at the Ministry of Culture Nora Dayan told Tert.am, summing up the Museum Night held on Saturday.

“We prolonged the working hours of the museums to give people an opportunity visit them after work. However, it gave no result. People like to visit museums in groups. They like to attend events jointly,” she said.

Though the results of the Saturday visits to museums within the framework of the Museum Night have not been summed up in all 62 museums yet, it is already clear they had a great number of visitors.

Lines were registered in the Yerevan Contemporary Arts Museum, History Museum, Parajanov house-museum.

Asked whether the small number of visitors is agreed with hard social-economic condition of the people, Nora Dayan said since 2008 twice in a month the museums are free: on the second Friday of each month for children and on the last Saturday of the month for all. However, no mass visits are being registered on these days as well.
