Monument to victims of Russian-Georgian war to be unveiled in Batumi

The municipality of Georgian resort town of Batumi has declared a contest of sketches of monument dedicated to the victims of the 2008 Russian-Georgian war.

The deadline for submission of sketches is June 20. The winner will be awarded USD 8,000.

The monument will be unveiled in the town garden named after the heroes of the war. It is expected to be unveiled by the end of the year.

Such monument was expected to be unveiled in Gori, in the place of demounted statue of Stalin. However, the decision was cancelled.
