Eurovision song contest to be broadcasted in Armenia, or not?

Eurovision song contest final will start in Baku in a few hours.

However, it is not clear yet whether it will be broadcasted in Armenia or not. As far as Armenia has refused to participate in the contest in Azerbaijan, Armenia’s public is not informed whether the song contest will be broadcasted in the country or not.

The information about it is not available either on Eurovision Armenia web site or the Armenia’s Public TV, the web site of which is not functioning for already few hours. The causes are not known.

Head of the Armenian delegation to Eurovision Gohar Gasparyan did not return the call for the comment. Speaking to Tert.am on May 15, she said more probably the song contest would be broadcasted, without elaborating on whether it is the wish of the Public TV or obligation as a full member of the European Broadcasting Union. However, she ruled out any commitments.

According to the Tvcuyc.am web site, which places the TV programs of some TV channels, the Public TV is going to show Eurovision song contest at 11pm.

Television anchorman, spokesman for the Armenian delegation to the Junior Eurovision 2011 Artak Vardanyan, who annotated the previous two contests, was not aware of the issue either, advising to apply to Gohar Gasparyan, adding he is not dealing with Eurovision affairs any more.
