Renowned cellist to perform in Armenia

Alexander Hülshoff, one of the world’s best-known cellists, is to perform with the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia on June 8.

He has done one rehearsal with the orchestra and has been greatly impressed. “I am glad to be in Armenia. I am greatly impressed by the orchestra – both its professional level and the atmosphere,” Hülshoff said.

The world-famous cellist prefers Dmitri Shostakovich and Edward Elgar. “I am glad that Elgar preferred the cello for the last composition in his life,” Hülshoff said.

Eduard Topchyan, Artistic Director of the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, noted that numerous cultural projects are planned both in Armenia and in Europe.

“Of course, we have financial problems. But we hope to solve them during the coming season,” Topchyan said.
