Uri Caine to give concert in Armenia’s capital

Uri Caine, an American classical and jazz pianist and composer, who is celebrated for his eclectic and inventive interpretations of the classical repertoire, is to give his first-ever concert with the Chamber Orchestra of Armenia in Yerevan, June 27.

He is famous for reworking Bach, Beethoven, as well as Wagner, Schumann and Mozart.

The concert program includes compositions by Komitas, Sergey Aslamazyan and Antonín Leopold Dvořák.

Interestingly, Uri Caine is not acquainted with Komitas’ works, but is not against performing them.

Mr Caine will also perform his ‘Amusement’ for piano and stringed instruments.

Today’s concert in Yerevan is part of the European violin-making cooperation program, coordinated by the Paris cultural and cooperation association.

Two violin-makers from France and Belgium arrived in Armenia to cooperate with the Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. During their 7-day stay in Armenia they will conduct master classes for young Armenian violin-makers.
