Armenian cinema not dead - stuntman

At his meeting with journalists on Friday, Armen Petrosyan, Chairman of the Armenian Association of Stuntmen, responded to some art critics who claim that Armenian cinema “is dead.”

“One should not link his or her personal death with the death of cinema. Unfortunately, very few films are made at a high professional level,” he said.

Speaking of one of the latest Russian films, he said that Armenian stuntmen are both working in Armenia and cooperating with foreign producers.

One of the latest films is ‘Marksman’ (Russia), with well-known actors starring. Arman Gevorgyan is producer of the film, with nine tenths of the scene shot in Armenia.

People wishing to join the Association of Stuntmen need to have the title of Candidate for Master of Sport (a nationally-ranked athlete) and “have a desire, be romantic and realize that one nice day they may get their bones broken.”
