Ottawa hosts opening of first Armenian festival

Ottawa’s first ever Armenian festival opened in Canada’s capital on Friday, September 14, the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s press service reports.

The ceremony was held outside the Ottawa municipality building, with Armenian Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganyan, and a deputy mayor of the city, Steve Derosh, hoisting the Armenian flag.

The festival, which will run through September 16, aims to introduce the Ottawa residents to the Armenian culture and traditions, song and dances, as well as cuisine.

Different dance groups and choirs from different cities and towns of Canada will perform at the festival. The program also includes a holy mass, jazz concerts and theatrical performances.
