Areni wine festival slated for October 6

Traditional Areni wine festival will take place October 6 organized within the framework of “Tourism Assistance Service” 2012 programs by the Ministry of Economy and Vayots Dzor governor’s office, director of Areni festival Nune Manukyan told the reporters today.

She said the visitors will taste wine in special clay glasses which they can take home with them.

Aram Grigoryan, head of Vayots Dzor governor’s office territorial administration department, said harvest holiday will be marked within the framework of the festival.

“This year we have decided to join the holidays as we are celebrating them with a week difference. Next year though we want this festival to be organized not only in Vayots Dzor but other provinces as well,” he said.

Government members, MPs, representatives of NGOs and tourism areas are invited to the event.

For the first time the festival was organized in 2009.
