Pianist Yevgeni Kisin impressed with his visit to Armenia

Well-known pianist Yevgeni Kisin who performed in Yerevan within the framework of Yerevan prospects 13th international festival said he has never had a reception like he had in Armenia.

Speaking to reporters today, Kisin said he had heard about Caucasian hospitality, and Armenia’s in particular, but did not expect it to be such. “I am very thankful for all I have experienced here,” he said. The pianist also presented the meetings he had during the week and the medals.

After concert in Aram Khachaturyan concert hall, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan awarded him Medal of Honor.

The pianist was also impressed with the visit to Sergey Parajanov house-museum organized by First Lady of Armenia Rita Sargsyan.

“I know what difficulties Armenia has faced during these years, thus I have decided to provide the received sums to those who need it. I am happy that these means will be provided to Gift a life fund. Helping people with cancer is a personal matter for me,” he said, saying that his father died of cancer 6 months ago.

Yevgeni Kisin said he was also impressed with the visit to Spitak town. Kisin became honorary citizen of the town for his continuous support to the town after the disastrous earthquake.

Culture minister Hasmik Poghosyan thanked Kisin on behalf of the music lovers and said that he is very much loved in Armenia, urging to visit Armenia more frequently.

Yevgeni Kisin was born in 1971 in Russia, in a Jewish family.
