US embassy assists in reconstruction of Armenian churches in Turkey

Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism continues the reconstruction of ancient monuments, including the Armenian churches, in the frameworks of what is claimed to be a special project.

Citing the Ministry’s 2011 annual report, Agos weekly says that the project is partially funded by the US Embassy in Ankara.

The Embassy is said to be particularly assisting in the reconstruction of the Holy Savior church. It has also found financial means  repairing the cathedral of Amo.

The report addresses the Tigran Hinetsi church, the Ani Cathedral, the St. Gregory the Illuminator church and the monuments on the mount Nemrut.

The report says the plan for the construction of the Tigran Hunetsi Church has received an approved. The World Church Fund is also said to be assisting in the project.
