Armenia nominated for 2012 Edison Award

A music CD by Gurdjieff Folk Instruments Ensemble (founded by Armenian musician Levon Eskenian) has been nominated for the Dutch annual jazz music prize, Edison Award.

A statement released by the Ensemble says only three CDs have been nominated for this year’s award.

Formerly, the prize has been awarded to Steve Wonder, Eric Clapton and Robbie Williams. The classical musicians winning Eddison Award include Evgeny Kissin, Valeri Gergiev, Claudio Arrau and Charles Aznavur.

The Gurdjieff Folk Instruments CD was declared Armenia’s best folk Album at the 2012 National Music Award.
