Turks to produce films on Armenian Cause

Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinch has announced a plan for producing feature and documentary films devoted to the Armenian cause, according to Hurriyet.

The report in the Turkish publication has apparenty aroused a wide interest among readers as the comments below suggest. Opinions range from support to the idea to the denial of the Armenian Genocide. Yet a group of readers have made calls for featuring at least true facts in the movies.
 

“Istanbul is the capital of the Genocidal Ottoman Empire. Please say in the film that the most beautiful places still belong to our citizens of Armenian descent. The last days of the 600-year-old empire are full of horror,” reads one of the comments.

Another reader says Turkish official had better quit politics and step aside.

The authors of other comments said the Turkish authorities who have proposed the idea will be the only ones to watch the film.

“Let them shoot [the movie]. We will realize, at least, which Turkish thesis as such. Do not engage in propaganda. In case the Turkish Historical Society [a Turkish government organization which seeks to achieve the denial of the Armenian Genocide] releases a relevant movie, we’ll be a laughing stock even for the crows; that will cause more harm,” a reader says.

“Your film will be broadcast only by TRT to make you blow your own horn. Instead of talking anpit Palestine and Syria at big assemblies, say what actually happened in our country,” reads another comment.
