TV channel run by ethnic Armenian third most popular in Britain

Russia Today, an international multi-language television network run by Margarita Simonyan, is the third most popular TV channel in Britain after BBC News and Sky News.

A report by the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB) has found that the network has 555,000 viewers aged from four. In Russia, the English language channel attracts around 1,3 million people per month or 2,5 million per quarter, RIA Novosti reports, citing the findings.

The ranking places Russia Today above such popular TV networks as Al Jazeera English, Fox News and Euronews, which are also broadcast in Britain. Its audience is said to top those channels almost twice.

This is the first time the channel was included in BARB’s report.
