Armenia to take part in 13th Eurovision Young Dancers contest

Armenia will for the first time participate in the 13^th Eurovision Young Dancers contest, which is to be held in Poland next June, Gohar Gasparyan, Head of the Armenian delegation, told journalists on Friday.

“A qualifying round is scheduled for next March. No TV voting is expected, but a professional jury will be working. The participants must necessarily be trained in art of dancing, but can perform in a free style,” Ms Gasparyan said.

With respect to “grown-ups,” Ms Gasparyan does not rule out a selection of participants behind closed doors.

“This is the Public TV’s right to decide on which of the applicants can participate. A singer or song is selected by means of internal voting. But no final decision has so far been made,” Ms Gasparyan said.

Armenia’s Public TV has joined the Public Broadcasters International Conference and established business contacts with BBC, CBS and other internationally known TV companies.

The Conference will meet in Washington next year, and the Armenian delegation will leave there to discuss the field’s problems.
