Martiros Saryan’s canvas sold for record price at London’s Sotheby’s (photos)

Martiros Saryan’s On the Foothills of Aragats has been sold at London’s Sotheby’s auction for one billion US dollars (623.7 GBP).

According to Russian RIA Novosti it is a record price for the work of the renowned Armenian artist. Besides Saryan’s work, Dmitry Nalbandian’s Daisies has also been sold. The unknown buyer gave $286.6 (175.3 GBP) for it.

At the auction dedicated to Russian art few price records have also been registered by the canvases of Valentin Serov, Vasily Vershchagin and Lado Gudiashvili. The auctions dedicated to the Russian art will continue today as well.
