Armenian pianist honored with Moscow Composers Union medal

Renowned Armenian pianist Hayk Melikyan has been awarded with the Moscow Composers Union’s medal of honor.

The musician performed on Monday a solo concert in Moscow where he was invited by the Union’s president, Oleg Galakhov. The program included masterpieces of the 20th century and contemporary music (Luciano Berio, Toru Takemitsu, Iannis Xenakis, Harutyun Delalyan, Gyorgy Kurtag, Tigran Mansuryan, Henrik Gorecki).

At the end of the concert, the Union’s president bestowed the honor upon the musician, praising his contribution to the development and dissemination of contemporary music.
