Ministry of Diaspora, Yerevan State University sign collaboration agreement

Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan and Rector of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonyan have signed a scientific-cultural and educational collaboration agreement for the coming five years.

The deal necessitates contractual procedures for the order and publication of educational resources, fiction and research themes, as well as the join elaboration and organization of different events in Armenia and the diaspora.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Diaspora, the agreement also envisages symposiums and conferences, as well as internship opportunities for students. The YSU will continue its master’s programs and summer schools in diaspora studies

Considering the move an important landmark, the minister pointed out to three key trends of the continuing collaboration - the opening of a diaspora studies chair at the University, the joint organization of all the important conferences, and the joint research.

“For us, the mother university has become the source center that the Ministry has been collaborating with since inception,” said the minister, praising particularly the YSU’s efforts to record the history of the diaspora communities.

The YSU rector noted for his part that their institution is very serious about the joint activities. “We have passed a short, though versatile path. I thinks the achievements help create a completely new level of collaboration. It is commendable to see new circles of professors and students becoming part of the collaboration efforts,” he said.
