Yerevan to turn into a fairy-tale city on New Year Holidays, municipality promises

The responsible for capital’s exterior decoration will do everything to turn capital Yerevan to a fairy-tale city from December 20, the day when capital’s mayor will lit the lights of the main New Year Tree.

From that day the capital will feel the festive breath, Araz Baghdasaryan, municipality’s exterior decoration and advertisement department head and Gaga Amatuni, Yerevan chief designer told the reporters today.

Different light-emitting diode decorations – animals, trees are being imported for already two months to turn the Yeravan into a dreamlike city.

“I want to stress that not only downtown Yerevan will be decorated but all the parts of the capital. Rating high the necessity of equal development of territories New Year trees will be placed in all districts. People will feel the breath of New Year everywhere,” Baghdasaryan said.

This year for the first time Yerevan will have New Year symbol, the well-known angel in Armenian miniature.

As far as the coming year is the year of water snake the blue color will be dominating. 3D illumination effects will be in two places, the one on the front of Opera and Ballet Academic building, the place of the other is kept secret.

As to the capital’s main tree, it is 32-meter-high and will be composed of 6,000 branches.

More than 50,000 light emitting diode devices will be used for the decoration of the tree.
