New Book bookstore opens in Armenia’s capital Yerevan

A new bookstore opened today in Yerevan on the initiative of the Writers Union of Armenia, press service of Yerevan Municipality reported.

Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan ceremonially opened New Book bookstore on Baghramyan street, near the Writers Union.

The bookstore will present books of contemporary Armenian and foreign writers. From time to time the readers will have an opportunity to meet with contemporary Armenian writers.

Levon Ananyan, chairman of Armenian Writers’ Union thanked mayor Taron Margaryan for the assistance and permanent attention.

The mayor welcomed the initiative of the Union to open new bookstore stressing that such initiatives are very symbolizing and bring honor for the country marking the 500th anniversary of its typography.

“As you know this year Yerevan has been declared world capital of book and a number of events were organized in Yerevan on that occasion,” the mayor said.

Margaryan said the municipality is ready to assist all the individuals who will express wish to open book stores in the capital.

The Yerevan mayor toured in the bookstore, got acquainted with the presented literature and was the first purchaser.
