Yerevan mayor honors merited artists, sportsmen

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan has given awards to several outstanding representatives of culture and sports.

At a special reception in the Yerevan City Hall earlier today, the mayor wished them more achievements and success in the coming year.

“Wishing you a happy New Year and a merry Christmas, I wish the coming year to bring happiness, love and solidarity to your families. May 2013 be a year of achievements, success and rise for you all!” Margaryan said.

Around seven people - including dramatist Karine Khodikyan, Armenian People’s Artist Zulum Grigoryan and Director of the Public Radio of Armenia Armen Amiryan - were honored with the Yerevan’s Mayor’s Golden Medal for their contribution to art, literature, culture, spiritual education and radio,

According to a press release by the Yerevan City Hall, twenty others received the mayor’s diploma and acknowledgement award.

Thanking Margaryan for his appraisal, the guests admitted that the prizes received obliges them to work more and better for the capital city.

At the end, the mayor listened to a concert by young musicians who have won awards at international contests.
