California village to commemorate Dink martyrdom

California’s Winnetka village will host on Sunday a commemoration event dedicated to Hrant Dink, the editor-in-chief of the Armenian-Turkish bilingual weekly Agos.

The ceremony, expected to mark the sixth anniversary of Dink’s death, will take place in the village’s “Krikor & Aved Kurkcuoglu Hall, the Organization of the Istanbul Armenians has said in a statement. Hovhannes Avedikyan, the chairman of the organization’s Cultural Committee, is due to speak at the event.

Dink was gunned down outside his office in Istanbul on January 19, 2007.
