Number of renowned figures due in Armenia in June

A number of renowned figures will arrive in Armenia from different countries to promote the interaction between peoples, co-founder of People’s Diplomacy Mission Arman Saghatelyan told the reporters on Thursday, adding that a number of events are scheduled as part of their visit.

Saghatelyan stressed that this initiative is not only his idea but also of Estonian Meelis Kubits, one of the founders of People’s Diplomacy Mission.

“We met in Belarus two years ago and discovered a clear truth that though there is an interest between the states but during these 20 years of independence the peoples of the two countries have not contacted with each other. We are the last generation of the Soviet Union who visited and contacted with different nations,” he said.

Saghatelyan stressed that today’s youth does not have opportunity to contact with other peoples.

Kubits said the majority of guests will arrive from Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, the USA and other countries.

“Some 500-600 people will be in Armenia on June 12. We want to intensify the contacts between peoples and learn more about each other,” he said, stressing that hundreds years ago people were contacting more with each other.

“It is an exclusively civil initiative and we expect warm hospitality,” he stressed, informing that the Foreign Affairs Ministry assists the initiative.
