Armenian singer takes part in Play Crossroads 2013

The young Armenian singer, Suren Arustamyan, is taking part in the Play Crossroads 2013 festival-contest, which offers the winner a chance to attend the Crossroads Guitar Festival later this year.

Though the contest was launched on January 7, Arustamyan says he learned about it only a couple of days ago. His song was registered online on January 29.

 
“In just two days, I appeared in the top 50 list; the jury will make a selection from the top 100 [participants]. Much depends on the jury here, so it is essential which performer they will like more,” he told Tert.am.

If declared a winner, Arustamyan will have a unique chance to perform at the Crossroads Guitar Festival with such legendary stars as Eric Clapton, BB King, John Mayer, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy etc.

Play Crossroads 2013 will take place in New York on April 12 and 13. Of the around 2,000 participants, the jury will select one who will be in the top 100 list. The online selection will be based on Buzz Rating, which requires a maximum activeness on the internet.

The young singer said he is going to post a couple of more records on the website.

Arustamyan is also taking part another contest of guitar players, declared by Eric Clapton. It is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the legendary musician’s song, Cocaine.

To participate in the contest, singers are required to submit their own version of the song. Two participants - the one with maximum votes and another winning the Music Enterprises company’s approval - will be declared winners.

Arustamyan has now on top with 3,000 votes. He managed to maintain the leading position before the end of voting.

The final results will be summed up on February 6. Arusyamyan told Tert.am that it is important for him to win this contest to make his dream come true. “Singing with Eric Clapton means a lot to me. That’s a dream that can come true thanks to these contests,” he said.
