Armenian artist showcases works in Russia’s Krassnodar (video)

Russian-Armenian painter Gevorg Babakhanyan has opened his first ever exhibition in the city of Krasnodar, 9 tv.ru reported.

In his canvasses, the artist (better known with the pseudonym ENDZA) offers viewers to reflect on life and recall their childhood.

A graduate of the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography, and the Jerusalem Seminary, Babakhanyan initially served in the clergy. He later left for Venice to study painting. The religious themes and expressionism elements in his canvases appear to be the reflection of the artist’s unique biography.

Endza’s painting art has been greatly influenced by the Italian painter, Amedeo Modigliani. His main hero is a small boy portraying the painter’s childhood.

“We did everything in childhood. That kid won’t give a moment’s peace. He wants me to paint him and never forget him, my childhood, because everything good comes from there,” he said.
