Armenian actor responds to intellectuals over letter to president

Actor Sergey Danielyan has commented on a letter a number of Armenian intellectuals addressed to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
 
In their letter they objected to the performance of Anoush by Serzh Avetikyan.

Danielyan believes it to be a soviet tradition and calls on Armenia’s president not to take it seriously.

“Dear Mr President, do not take a letter from art critics too seriously,” Danielyan said at a press conference.

He does not think that it is the performance that is in question.

“The problem is applying to the president. I understand that the Armenian president is a standard-setter for our actors’ tastes and perception of arts. But should the Maestro be bothered every time?”

According to him, intellectuals of his age “have become senile.”

Addressing the authors of the letter, Danielyan said: “It is a shame to count other people’s money.”
