Armenia qualifies for Eurovision 2013 final

In the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Malmo, Sweden overnight, the Armenian rock band Dorians had a successful performance, paving its way for the final round.

The band’s soloist, Gur Sujyan, performed the song Lonely Planet written by Black Sabbath guitarist Tomi Iommi.

Also participating in the Thursday semi-final were Latvia, San Marino, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Malta, Bulgaria, Iceland, Greece, Israel, Hungary, Norway, Albania, Georgia, Switzerland and Romania.

Sujyan, with his rock band, ranked the seventh among the ten participating countries. The other states that won the right to the final round are Hungary, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Malta and Greece.

They will join the other ten countries (Moldova, Lithuania, Ireland, Estonia, Belarus, Denmark, Russia, Belgium, Ukraine, the Netherlands) in the Swedish town on Saturday night to take part in the pan-European contest.
