Armenian, Georgian vice parliament speakers meet in Javakhq (videos)

Vice speaker of Armenia’s parliament Eduard Sharmazanov met with his Georgian counterpart Zviad Dzidziguri within the framework of celebrations dedicated to the holiday of Armenian-populated Damala village in Aspindza region of Samtskhe-Javakhq.

MPs of the parliaments of the two countries also participated in the event.

The holiday of Damala village is being celebrated for already the 6th year. The initiator is businessman-philanthropist from Damala Sos Sahakyan, MP Arman Sahakyan’s father.

On the initiative of Sos Sahakyan the celebrations launched with the donation marathon that gathered over $80,000.
Akhaltskha.net web site reports that expressing gratitude to the present and the donators, Sahakyan said the village assistance program has great opportunities.

Speaking to Tert.am, NA vice speaker Eduard Sharmazanov noted that they are in Javakhq at the invitation of MP Arman Sahakyan to participate in the holiday of Damala village. He said that within the frameworks of the visit they met with their Georgian partners and discussed issues of Javakhq.

“A big celebration was organized. MPs of Armenian and Georgian parliaments participated in the cultural event celebrating the triumphant victory of Armenians over Turkish regular army in 1918,” he said, adding that they also had separate meeting with the Georgian MPs. Armenia’s vice speaker said he also met with his Georgian counterpart and discussed the role of such events in developing Armenian-Georgian relations.

He said they also discussed a number of political and economic issues and reached agreement to carry out practical steps for the restoration of roads, schools in the village with the assistance of Sahakyans.

Sharmazanov said that arrangement has been reached to meet in Georgia’s capital at the end of the month.
