Armenian composer Aram Khachatryan’s music in UNESCO special register

The handwritten notes and musical compositions of Aram Khachatryan, a renowned 20th century Armenian composer, have been listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register.

The Armenian bid added to the list of the 299 files maintained in sound records, reports the Foreign Ministry’s press service. The composer’s name will be later included in the list of such world-renowned composers as Bethoven, Brahms and Chopin.

The bid, entitled Aram Khachatryan’s Notes and Cinema Music, has been prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the assistance of the Composers son, Karen Khachatryan. It was submitted to UNESCO’s central headquarters in 2010. The list was enriched with additional handwritten notes last year.
