Serzh Sargsyan hosts Spanish writer

President Serzh Sargsyan received on Monday Gonzales Guarchi, a Spanish writer whose three documentary novels on the Armenian Genocide were recently presented in the Russian language.

Greeting the guest, the president thanked him for an unbiased interpretation of the Armenian nation’s history and the depiction of the early 19th century atrocities in the Ottoman Empire in the Spanish and Russian languages.

Sargsyan highly appreciated the writer’s efforts to address the Armenian nation in his literary pieces, considering it a good example of friendship, love and assistance in re-establishing justice.

Guarchi’s trilogy – The Armenian Family Tree, Armenian Legacy, and The White Mountain – covers the 1915 tragic events, as well as the political motives that led to the Genocide.

The president honored the writer with the Movses Khorenatsi medal, considering his literary heritage a genuine example of intercultural enrichment.

Thanking the president for the high honor and the warm words, the Spanish writer promised to wear the medal with dignity, keeping its name high in the course of his future literary work.

Wishing Mr Guarchi health and more creative success, the president said that Armenia is always ready to stand by real good friends and pleased to give them warm receptions over and over again.
