E-voting to reduce election rigging risks – MP
Electronic voting and electronic control over electoral processes are expected to essentially reduce the chances of vote-rigging, a lawmaker of Armenia’s ruling political force said today, commenting on the proposed legislative reforms.
“The new Electoral Code will definitely reduce the existing or alleged frauds and electoral wrongdoings,” Hovhannes Sahakyan of the Republican faction in parliament told our correspondent.
But he said that their political team has not yet finalized its proposals on the models and mechanisms of e-voting.
Asked to what extent he considers the proposed procedure effective, the lawmaker replied, “It depends on you and on us. If the electronic system doesn’t work, we will have perhaps to rethink and renew the processes and re-evaluate our set of values.”
