Armenia’s minister of defense on Wednesday pledged strong government efforts towards stepping up the aid to  the families of servicemen who died or acquired first-degree disability while performing military duties.

Vigen Sargsyan addressed particularly the housing-related problems, which he said received President Serzh Sargsyan’s special attention at the Nation-Army conference back in April (the president called for special measures to resolve the problem within three years).

“We have a waiting list, which also includes the families of those who died back in 1992-1994,” he said, expressing hope that the coming years would be an opportunity for them to address also the problems of servicemen with second-degree disability.

The minister further highlighted the existing problems. “In my estimation, this program lacks transparency, as there’s no possibility to even follow the queue online,” he added.
