Constitututional reforms: CEC receives 1 opponent’s bid for ‘No’ campaign
Amid the ongoing campaign for the constitutional referendum, only one side opposing to the proposed reforms has filed a bid with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
“As of 9:13 am, the CEC received one application from a side bidding for the ‘No campaign’,” the agency's secretary, Armen Smbatyan, says on Facebook.
Earlier, a former ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), Ruben Melikyan, announced his intention to launch headquarters of critics. His team includes civic activists and lawyers, including those specializing in constitutional law.
The campaign officially started on Monday, February 17. The draft reforms, initiated by the parliamentary majority, call for the removal of seven out of the nine members of the Constitutional Court.
