The first trial batch, which arrived in Armenia on November 8, consists of food wheat of the 4th grade.
Grade 4 wheat is usually mixed with high grade wheat to produce medium quality flour. They are given to animals as a food ingredient. In some cases, it is used in the production of alcohol, starch or technical flour.
Passing through the territory of Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, the train transported about 1000 tons of wheat.
According to Tobilbek Omarov, the managing director of "Prodcorporatsia" JSC, the supply of Kazakh grain to Armenia is an example of food diplomacy.
"This event has not only economic, but also historical significance, as it opens prospective opportunities for the development of direct transit and mutual trade. Through the export of Kazakh grain, we create new bridges of cooperation and contribute to the restoration of neighborly relations, as well as to the strengthening of trust between the countries of the region," said the representative of "Prodcorporation".
The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan informs that now the national grain operator is negotiating with new Armenian partners who are interested in stable supplies of Kazakh wheat. In the future, the volume of grain shipments to Yerevan may increase.
The company that imports wheat through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia is "Baghramyan" LLC.
