EU Council Approves Temporary Trade Liberalization Measures with Armenia

The Council of the European Union has approved temporary measures to liberalize trade with Armenia, providing for the removal of import duties on approximately 80% of Armenian exports to the EU. This was reported on the website of the Council of the EU.

The measures are intended to support Armenia’s economy following trade restrictions imposed by Russia. They will remain in force for two years.

Under the new regime, import duties will be suspended on a wide range of Armenian goods, including certain agricultural products.

The Council of the EU noted that the measures will help preserve and strengthen trade flows from Armenia to the EU, in line with the objectives of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
