Iran's Ermuz theater missed HIGH FEST due to financial problems

Financial problems have hindered the Iranian Emruz theater troupe to travel to Yerevan to participate in the HIGH FEST, an Armenian international performing arts gala.

According to Tehran Tmes, the General Office for Dramatic Arts (GODA), which is affiliated to the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, has informed Emruz theater troupe director Pantea Bahram that they could not cover the cost of tickets to Yerevan due to financial problems.

"I was informed about the issue just one night before the day when we were scheduled to leave Tehran for Yerevan," Bahram told the Persian service of ISNA on Monday.

The troupe had been rehearsing over the past few weeks to stage "Made in Iran" during the festival, held from October 1 to 8.

Bahram said that the festival organizers had been deeply disturbed by the cancellation of their performance from the festival schedule.

She said that the GODA knew earlier that they would not be able to cover the cost of tickets. "We had been led on by their statements," she added.
