Vazgen I's bust installed outside Mother See of Holly Etchmiadzin: Hraparak

A bust of the late Catholicos Vazgen I is planned to be erected in Etchmiadzin, reports local Armenian daily Hraparak (Square).

The bust will be erected in the framework of the fall session of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary delegation.

Further it mentions that the bust cast by Russian-Armenian sculptor Fridrikh Saghoyan, will not be installed in the territory of the Mother See of Holly Etchimadzin because His Holliness Karekin II and Catholocos of All Armenians was opposed to the idea.

Citing its own sources, the newspaper also mentioned that the issue was even discussed at the presidential administration with the President Serzh Sargsyan urging Karekin II to install the bust in the territory of the Mother.

"But Karekin II has achieved his aim: the bust will be installed in the centre of Etchmiadzin, in the bottom of the wall of the Mother See, in the park," writes the Hraparak.
