Yerevan to host 'French Melodies in Armenia' concert in June

Abed Azrie, a French composer and a Syrian by origin, will have a concert in Armenia in June.

Titled the "French Melodies in Armenia" the concert is a mixture of French classical music and Eastern motives.

Six Armenian musicians and French opera singer Ana Philippe (soprano) will take part in the concert.

Azrie has come to Yerevan to meet the Armenian musicians and rehears with them.

"I think that this project that we will implement in Armenia will very much resemble the music groups during the Barocco times. The sole classical music limits the musician's freedom," he said.

The most specific thing about the concert, he continued, is that the concert program will get ready during the rehearsals with the Armenian musicians.

The project is organized by Armenia's Ministry of Culture, the French Embassy in Yerevan, Culturfrance and KASSart Production companies.

Abed Azrie has recorded 20 albums. He has also written music for several films.

He was born in Aleppo and since 1967 he is living and creating his art in Paris, France.
