"Urartu: Van Kingdom" exhibit launched in History Museum

An exhibition that included works related to the Urartu Kingdom has kicked off at the History Museum of Armenia.

Titled "Urartu: Van Kingdom" the exhibition contained around 1000 works.

Among other guests visiting the exhibit was Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan, who walked into all the halls that hosted works featuring the culture, arts and history of the Van Kingdom that existed from 9-6 decades B.C.

"We had huge material accumulated, and we needed time to design, and prepare all this for exhibit," said Pavel Avetisyan, the Director of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography.

"There is significant amount of materials that has never been exhibited and is coming to complete out perceptions about those periods," he explained.

More than 70 percent of the works are being exhibited for the first time, Avetisyan added
