Harutyun Khachatryan's 'Border' nominated 'best-film' in Nika-2011

An Armenian film has won "The Best CIS and Trans-Baltic Films" nomination at the Russian "Nika-2011" film award, the office of the Golden Apricot film festival reported.

Directed by Armenian film director Harutyun Khachatryan, who is also the initiator of the annual Golden Apricot international film Festival, the "Border" won the prize together with three other films.

A total of 13 films had initially been nominated for the prize.

The other three films include "Family Affairs" by Latvian director Andris Gauja, "The Light of Thief" by Kyrgyz director Aktan Abdukalykov and "Through the Eyes of a Ghost" by Rustam Ibragimbekov.

The award-giving ceremony will take place in Moscow on April 7.

Prominent Russian actor Alexei Batalov, who is also the President of the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts, has sent a personal invitation to Harutyun Khachatryan to attend the ceremony.

Following its world premiere at the 38th Film Festival in Rotterdam "Border" has been presented in more than 45 international film festivals and won many prizes.
