Rock opera Wandering goes on screen on June 3

Wandering, the first ever rock opera produced by Armenian film makers, will go on screen on Wednesday, June 3 at the Moscow Cinema House in Yerevan.

Introducing the film's plot at a news conference on Tuesday, its producer, composer and librettist Aram Sukiasyan characterized it as the first movie in the region to make a wide use of 3D graphics.

He said the film features the tragedy of a person deluded on the intersection between the Earth and the Heaven.

Wandering tells about a man who, hospitalized after a road accident, had his brains transplanted to a foreigner.

He died, but his soul was never admitted to the heavenly realm. He thus remained between the Earth and the Heaven till the moment when the foreigner started saying strange things about the Armenian Genocide. Rejected by his sweetheart and loved ones, the man eventually fell into madness.

Through such absurd scenario, the creative team sought to feature the tragedy of the human fate that fell prey to intolerable sins and the innovations of science, said the producer.

Asked by Tert.am whether the film-makers are ready to stand theologists' criticism, Sukiasyan said they are ready for any kind of critical remarks.

"We have priest friends who are familiar with the scenario so I don’t think there will be a serious criticism," he added.

The film was produced under the joint funding of the National Film Center and the Cultural Center Azg. It took the film makers 53 days to shoot the rock opera.

"It involved tremendous work including records of rock musicians and symphonic orchestra, 3D graphic etc, " Sukiasyan said.

The national idea in the film is beyond any standards, he added, recommending potential spectators not to look forward to the traditional happy end.
