Ministry says transportation of Minas’ frescos was planned

Press Secretary of Armenia’s Ministry of Culture has said even if Minas Avetisyan’s murals have been transported from Gyumri to Yerevan, the “Minas Avetisyan Foundation” should have been informed about.

Asked by Tert.am to comment on reports that two of Minas Avetisyan’s frescos have secretly been transported to Yerevan, Gayane Durgaryan said: “What does it mean ‘they have secretly been transported to Yerevan?’”.

It comes after a Gyumri-based NGO issued a statement earlier in the week, calling on the government to leave Minas’ works in Gyumri.

The murals are said to be restored to be further installed in Zvartnots Airport. The NGO also called on Eduardo Ernekian, the owner of the Armenian Airlines CSJC to quit the idea of having those murals in Zvartnots Airport.

Gayane Durgaryan further said that today is a day off and the she cannot confirm those reports. She also said that their transportation to Yerevan has been planned, and even if they have been transported, then it has occurred in accordance of the program.

According to Durgaryan, those frescos could not be restored in Gyumri and would in anyway have to be transported to Yerevan for the purpose.

In her words, the frescos have been kept in “Minas Avetisyan Foundation” and without their knowledge and consent they could not have been transported to anywhere.
