Dali, Bellmor attract record number of visitors in Yerevan

An exhibition of the works by Salvador Dali and other outstanding surrealists in Yerevan's National Gallery is attracting a record number of visitors.

The exhibition, organized by Christine Argyle, the youngest representative of the Argyles, is attracting more than 400 visitors per day.

Beside the works by Salvador Dali, Yerevan's National Gallery is hosting nowadays pieces by Hans Bellmer, Leonor Fini and Giorgio de Kirko.

Oeuvres by Armenian surrealists such as Sergei Parajanov, Hakob Hakobyan, Yervand Qochar and others are also being exhibited, but in adjacent halls.

"The organizers of the exhibit think that this is a good chance for the Armenian art-lovers to see and appreciate also the surrealistic works by theirs compatriots," said Ani Avagyan, one of the curators at the gallery.

She also said that the total number of the visitors will be counted and summed up in October when the exhibition is over. However, she considers that the exhibit has attracted a record number of visits per month.

On the first day the exhibition had 500 visitors, while now the number is around 300-400 per day - mostly young people, she explained.
