Armenian TV channels show violence – Hayk Demoyan

Armenian TV channels are advertising violence, Hayk Demoyan, Head of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute has said.

Speaking at a meeting of the Public Council on Tuesday, Demoyan said that the Armenian TV channels show killings, rape, suicide and open scenes prompting teenagers to follow suit.

“We have a tool that negatively affects the society, which I don’t rule out that is controlled from abroad,” said he.

“Unfortunately, the Public Council is merely an advisory body, and I have to voice about it not as member of the Public Council, but rather as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia,” he explained.

“There is a mania in our TV channels and electronic media outlets; to gain rankings they show accidents, scenes of violence in other countries,” he added.

Further, Demoyan said that there are no intellectual programs, those that would positively affect the upbringing process of younger generations.

Demoyan also said he would propose to the Public Council to pay attention to this issue.
