Concert to mark closing of Babajanyan Fest contest in Yerevan

Youth State Orchestra of Armenia and Armenian pop singers will perform the favorite songs of prominent Armenian composer Arno Babajanyan on December 19.

The songs will be performed in Aram Khachatryan Hall in Opera House at the closing concert of the Babajanyan Fest contest.

At a press conference on Friday, Sergei Smbatyan, the art director of the orchestra, said that the concert will not be an ordinary one. It will be a luxurious celebration that will see the mixing of classical and pop music.

With that concert the orchestra will sum up the year, promising other surprises in 2012, he said.

“In 2012 the first concert will take place on January 24. We will present ourselves to the audience with a unique program and with such pieces that have not been heard,” said Smbatyan.

Armenian pop singer Hayko, also present at the press conference said that the concert will be a unique test for pop singers.

“We constantly say that the classical [music] should be propagated. Today we should agree that pop music also needs some propagation,” said he.

“In the hustle and bustle of music people cannot already differentiate what is pop and what is rabbis,” Hayko added.

Further, the singer said he has liked the Youth State Orchestra of Armenia that he has decided to make a CD with them next year.
