Charles Aznavour’s ‘star’ to inaugurate 10th Golden Apricot festival

The 10^th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival (IFF) will be marked by the unveiling the world famous singer Charles Aznavour’s “star” in Charles Aznavour square in Yerevan, Harutyun Khachatrya, Founding Director of the Golden Apricot IFF, told journalists on Friday.
 
“Aged 89, this man has arrived to take part in the festival. He has a lucid mid despite his age,” said Harutyunyan.

The ceremony will precede the inaugural film of the festival, Shoot the Piano Player, with Charles Aznavour starring as the titular pianist. The film will be shown at the Yerevan Opera.

Mikael Stamboltsyan, Director of the Golden Apricot programs, noted that the 2013 festival agenda includes a CIS cinema program.

“This year, Days of Russian Films will be held. A number of winner-films at the Kinotavr festival in Sochi will be shown. Boris Khlebnikov’s film ‘Before the night separates us’ will open program on July 9.

The film ‘Parajanov’ by Serge Avetisyan and Olesa Fetisova, co-produced by Ukraine, France, Armenia and Georgia, will close the festival.
