Armenian benefactor Gerard Cafesjian dies at 88

Prominent Armenian benefactor and businessman Gerard Cafesjian has died at age 88, PanARMENIAN.Net reported, citing the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in Yerevan

Cafesjian was born April 26, 1925 in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He served aboard for the United States Navy in the WWII period.

Cafesjian later earned a degree in economics from Hunter College, and a doctorate of jurisprudence from St. Johns University Law School, both in five and a half years. He was a member of the New York Bar Association.

In 1952, he began his career as a legal editor for West Publishing. In 1960, Cafesjian moved to Minnesota.
