Bako Sahakyan attends symbolic monument re-opening event

President of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic Bako Sahakyan attended on Wednesday the opening of the renovated symbolic monument, We and our Mountains, in capital Stepanakert. 


In a speech at the ceremony, the president highlighted the importance of preserving national symbols, noting with satisfaction that the Diaspora too, was involved in the patriotic effort.


He extended his gratitude to the philanthropist Karen Avagyoumyan for his financial support to the project.


According to a press release by the NKR presidential office, the event was also attended by the country’s second president, Arkady
Ghoukasyan, the speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, Hovik Abrahamyan, NKR Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan, Baroness Caroline Cox of the British House of Lords, and the son of Sargis Baghdasaryan, the monument’s architect, as well as guests from foreign countries.
