Remembering Sos Sargsyan: He has passed away, we and our mountains remain

Only a great man, a genius can deserve people’s overwhelming love. Sos Sargsyan was one of the great actors that enjoyed this love. His decease is a great loss for both his relatives and friends and millions of people appreciating his talent. People of different generations in and outside Armenia love the dozens of images he created on the stage and in cinema.
 
Many of Sos Sargsyan’s friends and workmates, as well as politicians, actors, intellectuals express their grief at the renowned actor’s death on their Facebook pages.

Tigran Sargsyan, Prime Minister of Armenia:

“Sos Sargsyan is no more. An Armenian intellectual has passed away. We have always been – and will always be – in need for his wise word and advice. The great master has left his trace not only in cultural life, but also in social life. Thanks to his roles and students of several generations Sos Sargsyan will pass into history as a unique image of an Armenian. I share the feeling of grief of the master’s family, students and friends at this loss.”

Levon Mutafyan, an art critic:

“The heaven of our dramatic art has fallen. Sos Sargsyan, our grandfather and master, is no more. We are bereaved. The symbol of conscience of our intelligentsia is no more.”

Araks Mansuryan, a singer:

“Unfortunately, one more intellectual and artistic genius worthy of great praise has joined the ranks of great Armenians that are no more with us. Remain bathed in light, great master.”

David Sahakyants, an animator:

“The last of the great are leaving us. The ones born and made “under the Soviet yoke.” Time will show, but I do not think “independent” Armenia will soon beget such celebrities.

Out thanks to those that stripped us of the opportunities to present ourselves with new men of genius, such as Sos Sargsyan, Robert Sahakyants, Mher Mkrtchyan, Aram Khachaturyan, Khoren Abrahamyan and so on.

“I have a feeling that one of the columns of my house has collapsed. Our Sos, our grandpa, our maestro. I can’t believe. First of all, he is ours. It is a loss both for me and for the entire country.”

“Sos Sargsyan has passed away. We and our mountains remain. My condolences.”

Sos Sargsyan died on Thursday, aged 84.
