‘It is sometimes difficult to be in several places at the same time - Hrant Tokhatyan

Armenian actor Hrant Tokhatyan is showing his talent outside Armenia. 

In an interview with Tert.am he said that “it is time to go beyond Armenian theater circles and perform in other countries as the necessary potential is available.”

“I played in a film in Russia, and I have two new offers. I am grateful to director Mher Mkrtchyan for affording me an opportunity to play in a Russian film. It is most interesting,” the actor said.

Tokhatyan played in the comedy “Pap 007” with Russia, Georgian and Latvian actors – Vakhtang Kikabodze, Sergey Shakurov, Andris Bulisi, Konstantin Yushkevich.

“We have become good friends and plan to perform in a play together,” Tokhatyan said.

The Russia-based CTC TV channel is showing the comedy “The Last of the MohiKYAans”, with Tokhatyan starring.

As to the rumors about his plans to move to Nagorno-Karabakh, he said that he will continue working there.

Asked about how he succeeds, Tokhatyan said, smiling: “It is sometimes difficult to be in several places at the same time. But I can do my work in time. We organize our work so that it can be done in my absence. My presence is not so important.”

With respect to cultural life in Nagorno-Karabakh, Tokhatyan said: “Nagorno-Karabakh theater has a most interesting history, a very good company and very good directors. Some of them are still working. Unfortunately, theater there is the same as in Armenia. We are not always satisfied with what we have. It is good because it encourages us to work even more actively. We can present our theater’s potential not only in Armenia and in the Armenian Diaspora, but also in other countries irrespective of the audience’s nationality."
